the reality of the Gospel of Jesus Christ

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not about happiness and prosperity; rather the Gospel of Jesus Christ is about being real with God, yourself and others. And the reality is that life is not always happy or prosperous, sometimes life is sad and sorrowful and we find ourselves at a total loss. But joy comes in the morning - not always in the form of a happy face or countenance, but joy simply because God is. Joy is inner strength that may be in you even if your face shows the opposite. Joy does not always mean happy.
